Causes of diarrhea

Some of the causes that lead to diarrhea are:

  • Infection with certain types of viruses and germs such as rotavirus, hepatitis virus, coli, salmonella, cholera, or parasitic organisms such as giardiasis and amoeba.
  • Loss of ability to digest certain types of foods, such as lactose in dairy and milk, or celiac disease, ie, gluten intolerance in wheat and some types of grain.
  • Pancreatic problems such as cystic fibrosis, which accompany gastrointestinal digestion.

Symptoms associated with diarrhea

The duration of diarrhea varies depending on the cause of the infection. It may last for two days, three days, or eight days. It may last for several weeks, and may be accompanied by other symptoms such as:

  • The urge to enter the bathroom immediately.
  • Incontinence.
  • Flatulence of gas.
  • Feeling of pain in the lower abdominal area.
